What really is Dare2 ?
Dare2 aims to be a friendly, fun, interactive
and stimulating bunch of people to hang out with, focussed mainly
around the crypt at Christ Church. We change the place around and
deck it out so it feels cool and comfy, and make it our zone. We
do stuff together outside of our meeting times sometimes - for social
things, sports, music events - could be anything really. D2 provides
an opportunity to explore our thoughts and ideas on issues we face
daily, and things we hear about which shape our views on life and
this earth. And when we need an ear to listen, a bit of encouragement,
or some support, there's a chance for that too.
What stuff do you do?
Well all sorts really - and we are open to new
ideas all the time. This term (Autumn 2005) we are looking the question;
'do we dare to compare?'
Dare2 COMPARE – What do others think? What
does the Bible say? What do I think?
We hope to explore a few issues we face daily and those in today’s
society. The aim will be to compare and contrast the different perspectives,
and see what we can learn from them.
What happens when you meet ?
We meet at 730pm and unless we are going straight
out for something, we have are games (table tennis/ football, pool,
etc) and music and just chill till about 835pm. There is a chance
to buy bits of food, sweets, drinks etc also.
Then we gather around 845pm for news, notices and to introduce our
discussion if we have one till around 9.30pm. There is a place for
some questions or abit more serious chilling before its time to
pack up and go about 945pm.
Sometimes though we just veg and watch a movie
together and share chips or pizza.....
There will also be a chance to join up for further
exploration study of the Bible and what is means to be a christian
which will take place on a week night at a leaders house.
Each year we plan a special action run by Dare
2 to just show God’s love to others in some way - this could
be anything from the simple to the mundane.
Occasionally we have Dares to respond to ....
just for a laugh
And yes from time to time we organise Sponsored
events for all sorts of deserving causes.
