Review : Maidstone Gig - Delirious ?
On Monday 30.10.06 eighteen of us from D2( including
various family members
that hijacked our outing cos it sounded such fun!) went to see Delirious
at
Mote Park in Maidstone.
We arrived in plenty of time, largely due to
the fact that Debbie had read the time that the doors opened on
the tickets as the start time! Still, it meant we got a great position
and had some time for a bit of socialising and peole watching.
Delirious? were ably supported by Tim Hughes
who was superb and led a great worship session, shorter (in stature)
than we had imagined him though!!
Delirious? played for about an hour and three
quarters and the time flew :-)
Musically tight, these now very accomplished artists, delivered
with gusto and passion. It was superb, it was loud, it was music
you had to move to (incuding the obligatory jumping!) But not just
great musically, the lyrics are also incredibly thought provoking
and challenging. The words were meant to be understood - indeed
the words of the songs were imaginitively displayed on a large screen
behind the band, using a creative combination of word, animation
and movie clips. bringing a whole new dimension to their impact.
It was a priviledge to see so many meeting with
God at a rock concert.
Delirious? obviously appeal to a large age range,
there were many "older" people in the seated area on the
balcony and quite a few chlidren. The band made the point that as
many of their numbers are prayers you are never too old or young
to sing them.
Amongst the favourites which stick out was the
punkish "Paint the town red"
We got home about 11.15pm ish and only lost 1
D2er, well for a short while anyway!
Everyone, but everyone had a great time and would
like to go again!
Lots of swapping and lending of Delirious CDs going on as a result.
Many admitted to
struggling to be up for school and work the following day, but it
was worth it.
